and so it goes......

Early morning phone calls, broken down van, another seizure in a kid..........the days of my life

So we are down to one car, juggling how each will get to work/school, and worrying about my little-big boy. Today he was of all places going up the stairs when a teacher noticed something wasn't right so asked him if he was ok. When they found his speech was slurred they made him go back down the stairs. The freaky part is he has no recollection of ever leaving his first class period!!! As far as he remembers he was in his first class then woke up in the nurse's office not knowing that he was walking/talking some part of that time. I'm beginning to be greatly affected by all this. Can't sleep, can't eat, very stressed

craziness

work, dead batteries, bad news phone calls, and emergency doctor visits pretty much describe the past few days here.......

I've been debating on whether or not I wanted the expense of a cell phone until the events of Friday catapulted me into wireless store yesterday and now I'm the pround new owner of my own leash.

Friday morning I received another phone call that my son was having yet another seizure. If you notice the time frame, that is only a week since the last one!!! The school is now in a panic because he goes up and down the stairs there all day long. We'll have to talk to them monday morning but there are options available. Anyway, after I received the news at work I got on the phone with his doctor and asked them to *please do something. That changed his neurologist status to asap so we managed to have him seen that day and get him on anti-seizure medication. I do feel better now knowing that at least something has been done. This week will be craziness itself with trying to squeeze in all the testing but, hey, it is worth it.

The battery on dh's car went kaput yesterday. We were, of all places, sitting in front of a gas pump where we had just filled up the car. So after we finally got a jump, off we went to the auto store for a battery replacement.

One of the most annoying effects of perimenapause is the stinkin' insomnia!!!!! I hate just not being able to fall asleep despite being completely exhausted knowing that I have a full day at work tomorrow.

so how did that happen?

First it vanished and now it appears...........too strange for my weary brain to understand.........

humble blogging beginnings

I spent some time writing an entry this morning just for it to be lost somewhere out there in vast space. Where do those things go, I wonder?

Another day of life.......
of work.......
of stress and worry.......

We are still waiting to hear from the doctor's office or hospital about the testing for my ds. You'd think they would have pity on a poor mom and lite a rocket under their boots or something. Gee......

.........so, need to go stop 8yo ds from attempting to do an ollie off my bed........One in need of a doctor's care is enough for me at the moment.

humble blogging beginnings

You know, the first time I heard of a blog I was like, huh? Then I learned what a blog is and thought, nah, not for me. Why would anyone want to put journals or non-sensical garbage on the internet? Oh, well........so much for that thought!!! LOL at myself.

Got a phone call from dh this morning on his way to work. He'd seen an accident on the way to work involving a vehicle resembling my brothers and at a place my brother would be at that time of morning so de worrying mama turned into de worrying sister for a moment. However, we called his cell and he was perfectly fine although he knew of the accident.

You know, changing to daylight savings time is a real stress booster. Everyone here is having troubles making their scheduled bus times or school start times which turns my own schedule topsy turvy when I have to run kids to school and it's not in the normal daily routine. I know everything will settle down soon once everyone's inner clocks adjust but meanwhile de mama is freaking out!

I am concerned about my youngest ds although it started before the time change. He has gone from being a straight A student to daydreaming in class, not doing his work, and just being whiney all the time. He says he is just 'bored' and I guess that is a common symptom of a common ailment this time of year......spring fever......but we just can't afford to fall behind when he has done so well the entire school year. I must find a way to encourge him to pay attention just a few more weeks and then he'll have a nice long vacation.

phew........gotta grab a bite and race to work!!!

it's de mama's job to worry.........

Thursday, March 31, at 8:30 in the morning the phone rings at the office where I work. It's my husband telling me that our 14 year old son has had another seizure at school. These seizures started just over a year ago as tiny 'episodes' and have progressed to full blown grand mal seizures although I was told by the ER doctor that the last one two months ago was just 'hyperventilation' if you can believe that. Anyway, so while waiting for the MRI, EEG, and ABC's to be scheduled of course de mama starts to worrying..........What is going on with my baby? And of course, where else would a worrying mama turn but to the big www to do some research. So I find the lists of what could be wrong......ok, epilepsy we could live with but a brain tumor??? Nah, surely not.....not my big, healthy athletic teenager. What are the symptoms? headaches, seizures.......yes, those have gotten worse over the past year but hey, he still has a great appetite!!!

I do hope they get those tests scheduled quickly. I'm now inventing all kinds of things that could be wrong with him and need some peace of mind that he is going to be ok. Not that I don't have those moments I am tempted to toss him out on his ear but he is still my dear boy so I wait and I worry.........for what else is there for de mama to do??????
