Not meaning to leave anyone out, but I forgot to mention that tiny little fact to my dear brother and family that I am going to be a granny. Yes, I can officially call myself an 'old granny' now. :)
We are expecting our first grandchild January 31st. What should I call myself????????MawMaw G? Granny G? Grandma Angie just doesn't sound right. Jared and Jeff are completely thrilled at the idea of being uncles. There is hope of a boy. If so we are going to quickly get a five generation picture of the Great-great granddaddy, Great granddaddy, Granddaddy, Daddy, and Baby........too cool!!! Although I am hearing that Jim wants to name a boy as James III. I'm not too sure I like that idea but........? What can I say?

2 birds in a pear tree
Lazy, Lazy, Lazy Saturday!!!
We got nothing big accomplished today. Most of the day was just being lazy around the house and swimming this evening. Our back yard is finally being used after living here 2 years. We have a swing back there so I can relax when I'm watching the kids swimming. I'm enjoying that swing. I've wanted one forever so when James found one at a garage sale for a great price he snatched it up. :)
One of our adventures today was visiting the er. Amber, the girlfriend, was having some stomach pains so they panicked, afraid there was a problem with the baby, but it turned out to be just something simple. I found a tiny little house for rent I thought would work for them but the guy is asking way to much for the size of this teeny, tiny, little house and more than they can possibly manage. Oh, well.
My favorite adventure today was picking up our two new cocketiels. They are only a month old and just too precious. The male (much more friendly one) is named Elvis by James but we still don't have a name for the other. That places us at 5 dogs (several are temporary rescues that we are trying to find homes for), 5 cats (2 rescued-1 that we are trying to find a home for), 3 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit, 1 billie goat, and 2 birds in a pear tree :)

mom's bed
What is it with these kids about needing to be in mom's bed? Jen has a headache today. What does she do? She is sleeping in *my bed. When someone is sick, where will you find them? In *my bed. Jeff gets upset about something? You'll find him in *my bed. My bed is to my kids like chicken soup to a miserable cold.
I guess it all goes back to my "open bed" policy from the time they were born. My bed has always been the place to snuggle when things are bad and wrestle when things are good. I'm glad I've been able to provide that peace and comfort thru something so simple. I guess you can call it their security bed. :)

all of God's creatures
Fun Friday, week 3
We got off to a slow start. I had to work in the morning and then had a late morning doctor's appointment. It just so happened to be James day to be in town so we met up with him for lunch and then drove over to a nearby park.
At the park we watched the turtles and fish in the pond then decided to take a hike along a trail. The butterflies and dragon flies just fluttered around us as we walked. We did make a little stop along the way at a playground where Jared and Jeff played follow-the-leader on a playground. Jen enjoyed a swing there while I RESTED in the SHADE. It was hot but at least it wasn't really humid. So we just wondered farther along the trail, which was more like a mowed path of grass around the perimeter of the 'woods', until we found a path thru that we thought might be a shortcut....turned out it took us backwards not forwards....sigh
We finally made it around to another playground and that is where we came upon a little girl sitting at a picnic table petting a little kitten. Jen started asking her about the kitty and she said that it had just wondered up to her. Knowing we were dealing with a poor kitty that had been dumped Jen asked if her mom was going to let her keep the kitty and went over to talk to the little girl's mom. Anyway, it turned out that we brought home this tiny little kitten that is no more than skin stretched over bone. It's too sad. We will fatten her up and try to find a good home for her. The only problem has been Saphira, another rescue kitty. She is having hissy fits over another kitty in her space. She was mad at *ME* and refused to have anything to do with me until we put the new kitty in another room.
After leaving the park, we visited my mom for an hour or so. It has been nice to see her on a regular basis.
We did, indead, unknowingly bring home more of God's creature's..........remember the stroll thru the woods earlier??? We collected a bushel of chiggers along the way and now we are itching, itching, itching our way thru the day!

Fun Friday
Fun Friday, Week 2
I was not feeling well at all today. I'm suffering from pain and stiffness from head to toe right now. I did not want to get out of bed but the kids were ready for their day of summer fun so, of course, mom had to overcome and deliver.
It was steaming hot today (can you believe a heat index over 100) and we got a late start but made a go of it anyway. Today we chose to visit this super-sized playground that we haven't been to in awhile. It was one of those community donated/built projects and a really fun place to play hide and seek or chase. *I* just sat in the shade in my folding chair I am never without (those hard benches are not easy for me these days). I love the huge oak trees that grow abundantly in that park. They make the heat so much more bearable. The kids ran and played. Visited the water fountain. Played and Ran. Visited the water fountain. Rested in the shade. Visited the water fountain. Walked and played. Rested in the shade.
We spent probably about 1.5 hours there before the kids couldn't stand the heat anymore and were just hanging out in the shade with me so we left and stopped by Sonic for some slushies. Then we drove over to the nearby mall to walk in the nice cool air for awhile. The kids were laughing at the back of my shirt being soaked and plastered to my back. Walking in the nice cool air was such a relief. We bought a couple of used PS2 games for the boys and some cute tshirts for school in the fall. We are such the big spenders. he he The kids begged to go see another movie but, gosh, we just did that last week! We did meet James for dinner at Jason's Deli before heading for home. The kids were pretty tired by then so I guess we did ok.
I'm thinking what we will do next week....I'd like to find something in Houston or Conroe to go do one week with my sil. Hmmm, I need to give her a call....

Fun Friday
In order to give us something to look forward to every week and to give these boys some summer fun while still allowing for me to work, I am taking off work every Friday and spending the day with the kids having fun. The kids love the idea although James is a little jealous :P My intent is to take pictures of each Friday to keep in a summer '07 journal but I forgot the camara this week.
So, the biggest request from the kids this week was to go see Pirates of the Caribean so our first event of the day was a trip to the theater for the matinee. After the movie we went to drive-thru for a quick lunch of cheeseburgers then drove out to my mom's for a visit. The boys played with their cousin while I lay on the floor in the living room in pain. I enjoyed visiting with my mom, though. I always do. I love living close enough to her to be able to visit with her as often as I wish. We left mom's house around dinner time and I decided to stop at WallieWorld on the way home and buy a huge tarp and sprinkler. It is big enough to slide on like a slip n slide but wide enough for them to play tag and another other game they can come up with. Anyway, so we set that up when we got home and they had a couple hours of water fun to finish off the day. It turned out to be a full day of fun and hopefully a day full of summer memories for them to carry for a lifetime. Now, what shall we do for this week's Fun Friday?
